Oasis Ministries for Spiritual Development pledges to (a) change the world for good through contemplation and compassion, (b) raise $1,000 in scholarships to support creating safe, sacred space in the world, and (c) share a FREE HolyWow! e-book (Holy Wow! = encounters with the divine and how contemplation changes my world toward compassion).

          





Dear Cindy,
 
This year, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, Oasis Ministries is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving.  It is our first year for doing so, and we have set a goal to raise $1,000 in scholarships.
 
Last year, more than 27,000 organizations in 68 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday.  Since its founding in 2012, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about real change in communities.  We invite you to become a #GivingTuesday Ambassador and to help get out and give this December 1:
 

1. Get your circles or faith communities to support us, asking participants to make Oasis a special "mission" and to give to our campaign.
    
2. Help spread the word about our #GivingTuesday campaign by sharing our Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and emails with your social networks.
    
3. Make your own gift to our #GivingTuesday campaign, according to your means and motivation to set an example for your network.

Graduate Spotlight: Praying in Color Oasis graduate, spiritual director and blogger, Kelly Chripczuk is hosting Praying In Color at her home in Boiling Springs, PA, on Friday, November 13 from about 7:30 to 8:30pm.  Praying in Color (based on the book by Sybil Macbeth) is a form of "doodling prayer" which can be used for intercession, meditation and discernment.     Shopping On-Line? As A Little Child Retreat Day To be a human being is to be a child of God. – M. Bartolo-Abela Setting a child in their midst, Jesus told his closest friends – If you want to really get what I'm all about, become like this.  Is it possible Jesus meant what he said? As A Little Child will invite us to consider Jesus' invitation.  What is it about children that makes them so special?  How can we actively re-embody the gifts of childhood?  What is the cost of this invitation?  What is to be gained? What are practical ways to nurture the child within? Needing a break?

Needing a Break?   This month or every month? Mindful Day - August 21  l    Breath and Prayer   l    Journey into Silence   Become More Mindful So how crazy are you feeling right now?  On a scale of 1 to 10, where is your stress level? Jon Kabat-Zinn describes mindfulness as the "presence of heart."   When was the last time you were present to this moment?  What about bringing presence of heart?  What would that look like to you?  To explore mindfulness further and to gain some hands-on tools, you are invited to join Cindy Garis next Friday, August 21 (10am - 3pm), on a back porch in Mount Gretna, PA for a Summer De-Stress: A Mindful Approach to Stress-Reduction.  Learn more (Note: If cost is what is keeping you away, give what you can and come.  You need this.
